After the Revolution in 1959, Fidel Castro, the leader of the Revolutionary Council and the State Council, determined the health sector as a strategic area and decided to give priority to the country’s research and studies in the field of education. In this context, a step was taken to establish an army of white coats.
The Cuban Government allocates about 10% of the annual revenue to the health sector.
The state has developed and continues to develop new methods and vaccines in the treatment of cancer by using biotechnology, genetic engineering and scientists in the fight against cancer, which reduces the mortality rate in the country.
